Viñedo Chadwick: Maipo Valley, Chile

Viñedo Chadwick 2001

Viñedo Chadwick 2001, Maipo Valley

2001 saw a long, slow ripening that resulted in a full-bodied wine with concentrated fruit characters and supple tannins. Forward aromas of cassis, cedar and coffee are complemented by a pure, light note of vanilla bean from the new oak. On the palate, the wine presents a great concentration of ripe blackberry, boysenberry and black cherry characters. Balanced acidity and firm, finely grained tannins create a deliciously silky texture. The long finish is rich with berry fruit and a light mineral note.

2001 Vintage Reviews:
“This is a powerhouse, with a wall of raspberry ganache, black currant and cocoa flavors that don’t quit, thanks to the iron-clad tannins and dense loamy notes that sweep in on the long, chewy finish. A Cabernet Sauvignon for the cellar.” 94 Wine Spectator, April 2004
