Les Clos Sacrés

Les Clos Sacrés, Savennières

At the top of the Savennières appellation, Les Clos Sacrés is a wine blended from various parcels of the estate and is a distinctive introduction to La Coulee de Serrant. As with Clos de la Bergerie, the wine can age for around 15 years.

2005 Vintage Reviews:
“Very bony now, with piercing orange blossom, chamomile and white peach notes backed by a nervy spine. Long, tangy finish shows a yellow apple hint.” 90 Wine Spectator, March 2008

2004 Vintage Reviews:
“The 2004 Savennieres Les Clos Sacres is almost suspiciously deep golden in color for a youthful wine and its intensely peachy, exotically floral, and piquantly nutty, peach kernel-scented nose exhibits somewhat oxidative aspects. But this shockingly rich wine – opulent in texture and densely layered on the palate with peaches, flowers, toasted nuts, mineral salts, wet stone and shell lime – does not lack for vivacity nor a fresh, succulent, primary juiciness and charming suggestion of sweetness. Positively palate-staining, it finishes with myriad mineral nuances and low-toned nuttiness.” 91 Wine Advocate, August 2007

“Very solid, with notes of lanolin, peach, fig and cardamom that fan out on top, while the acidity stays firm underneath.  Drink now through 2008.” 90 Wine Spectator, October 2006
