Jester Rose

Jester Rose, McLaren Vale

Giacomo was known as the King of all Jesters. Quick witted and a skilled performer, he delighted audiences with his magical acts, juggling, storytelling, music and sorcery. Jester to the King’s court, he spent his early years surrounded by the castle’s opulence and grandeur. Promiscuous by nature, in 1575 he was promptly banished due to scandalous behavior involving the Duke’s daughter.

Jester Rosé is made in a dry style 100% from Sangiovese grapes grown on the Mitolo McLaren Vale vineyard. It is a unique Rosé style from McLaren Vcale showing lovely bright fruit flavors, with clean acidity and a long finish. A combination of whole berries and low fermentation temperatures are used to enhance the bouquet. Only free run juice is used. The fermentation runs for 3 weeks and is then stopped, with a small amount of residual grape sugar retained for flavor. The wine is then cold stabilized and filtered before bottling. The wine is a deep plum color and the nose shows a fragrant combination of red cherry and strawberry aromas. The palate displays layers of red berry fruit which combine with mineral notes, leading to a long dry finish. It has excellent intensity and depth of fruit.

2006 Vintage:
“The knock-out 2006 Sangiovese Jester rose exhibits an atypically dark color for a rose as well as crisp, elegant, gamy sweet cherry and currant flavors intermixed with hints of saddle leather and earth.” 89 Wine Advocate, October 2006
