Carmenere Single Vineyard

Carmenere Single Vineyard, Aconcagua Valley

The Carmenère vineyard is planted on a north-west-facing 5º slope with gravelly, sandy clay soils which drain very well. The vineyard features drip irrigation, high-density planting and a vertical trellising system. The Carmenère grapes are hand-harvested on April 21st. The fruit is gently crushed and fermented at 68-82ºF, followed by an extended maceration of twenty days. The wine ages for fourteen months in 100% new French and American oak barrels. Clarification occurs naturally as the wine settles during aging; it is then only lightly filtered at bottling.

2005 Vintage Reviews:
“The 2005 Carmenere Single Vineyard is opaque purple with an expressive array of spice box, toasty blueberries and black currants. On the palate there is outstanding richness, soft tannins, and gobs of flavor. Drink now through 2020.”
90 Wine Advocate, June 2007
