Max Reserva Shiraz

Max Reserva Shiraz, Aconcagua Valley

Max Reserva Shiraz 2003 is from Errazuriz’ prestigious Don Maximiano Estate in the Aconcagua Valley, a semi-desert region with hot summer days and cooling afternoon breezes. The Syrah vineyard was planted in 1992 on a northwest- facing 5° slope with gravelly, sandy clay soils which drain very well. The vineyard is drip irrigated, and intensive canopy management ensures excellent leaf surface area to crop load. A portion of the blend was sourced from the Max V Vineyard, also in the Aconcagua Valley, which was planted in 1993 on rocky soils. Max Reserva Shiraz is aged for twelve months in about one-third French and two-thirds American oak barrels (47% new). The wine is full bodied, spicy and richly fruity with supple tannins.
