Errazuriz: Aconcagua Valley, Casablanca Valley and Curico Valley, Chile
Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, Aconcagua Valley
Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes hand-picked in Errazuriz’ prestigious Don Maximiano Estate, located in the Aconcagua Valley, a semi-desert region where the hot summer days are cooled by afternoon breezes. The vines are planted on a 5° slope with gravely, sandy clay soils which drain very well. The vineyard is drip irrigated, and intensive canopy management ensures excellent leaf surface area to crop load. The high day-night temperature differences of the Don Maximiano Estate slows ripening and helps create intensity of flavours and concentration. Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 15 months in 75% French and 25% American oak barrels, with 33% new barrels. The wine is full-bodied with concentrated ripe fruit and velvety tannins.
2004 Vintage Reviews:
“Cedary aromas of black currant and bell pepper. Long, deftly balanced flavors of plum and vanilla oak. Smooth close strewn with bittersweet chocolate notes.” 90 Wine News, September/October 2006
