D'Alessandro: Tuscany, Italy
Cortona Syrah, Cortona Syrah
Cortona Syrah is made exclusively from Syrah grapes planted by Tenimenti d’Alessandro between 1988 and 2002 at a density varying between 7,000 and 8,500 vines per hectare. The maceration period is shorter than for Il Bosco, so as to encourage a more immediate display of fruitiness and suppleness. The wine is predominately aged for eight months in barrels that are two or three years old.
2003 Vintage Reviews:
Cortona Syrah 2003: 90 Points Vini Di Veronelli, 2005 (Daniel Thomases)
Cortona Syrah 2003: “Exceptional Syrah. Supple in texture, full bodied, and complex in flavor (pepper, black currant, toasted oak, green peppercorn), this is a distinctive wine, with good depth and length. Delicious].”***** Restaurant Wine, September/October 2005
