Château Margaux: Bordeaux, France
Pavillon Rouge 2005, Margaux
An amazing 2005. The Merlot not included in the blend of the top wine brings incredible power and life to the Pavillon Rouge; it makes up 48% of the blend. The Cabernets (also 48%) contribute density and restraint, and the Petit Verdot (4%) completes the surprisingly powerful and balanced blend. The richest Pavillon Rouge ever produced.
“The best second wine yet made by Chateau Margaux is undoubtedly the 2005 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux…Serious consumers should consider purchasing this gorgeous offering as it is probably better than just about any Chateau Margaux produced between 1963 and 1977.” 90-93 Wine Advocate, April 2006
“Gorgeous aromas of ultrarripe grapes with raspberries, minerals and hints of flowers. Full-bodied, with silky and juicy tannins. Long and flavorful.” 92-94 Wine Spectator, March 2006
