Château Margaux: Bordeaux, France

Pavillon Rouge 2004

Pavillon Rouge 2004, Margaux

The severity of the selection for Château Margaux has again enabled a worthy second to the first wine.  It has a powerful noese, great concentration, and a dense, rich, tannic structure.  Merlot makes up 40% of the blend, whereas the Cabernets contribute 55% and the Petit Verdot 5%.

“A balanced and fruity wine with good blackberry and currant character. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Grows on the palate. Pretty.” 89-91 Wine Spectator, April 2005
