Bruno Paillard: Champagne, France
Brut Rosé Première Cuvée, Champagne
Just as with the Brut Première Cuvée, this Rosé is produced from first pressing only. Pinot Noir makes up most of the blend (around 85%), supplemented by a touch of Chardonnay to add elegance to the fruit of the Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir is pressed rapidly to obtain a clear white wine, which is then blended with the juice of some Pinot Noir vinified as a light red by leaving the skins on the juice. As with all the BP champagnes, the dosage is very low to produce an authentic brut wine. The Rosé Première Cuvée is presented in clear bottles to show its delicate hue.
“Lithe Burgundian flavors of pale red fruit, roses and wild mushrooms. It feels all of a piece, rich and zesty at once, with lasting minerality. Delicious with roast arctic char.” 92 Wine & Spirits, December 2008
“Peach skin color. Zesty citrus, cherry pit and white pepper aromas, with a dusting of talc-y minerals. Deep, powerful blood orange and marzipan flavors are given energy and focus by firming acidity. Finishes spicy and persistent, with excellent freshness and nerve.” 90 Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec 2006
